What is art?

Art is subjective.  To one of my early college art teachers, artistry was painting styrofoam cups with assorted colors and nailing, stapling, taping, gluing and otherwise affixing them to a sheet of plywood painted in obscure contrasting colors.  However, to me this was perceived as merely a bunch of foam cups nailed, stapled, taped, glued and other wise affixed to a sheet of plywood that looked more like flooring of a grungy bar after a St. Patrick’s Day festival.  But as the saying goes: ‘One man’s crap is another’s masterpiece’.  Okay, so maybe that isn’t a saying, but it should be.  The person who started the Alaskan moose nugget art movement would probably agree.

So, I put these images up on to the internet for the world to appreciate or scoff.   Yet the motivation is not to seek out fulfillment through reward or praise, but rather, to be able to offer a glimpse into the creative side of my mind.  Likewise, most of my drawings have an anecdote associated their conception, which I have also included on many.  The intent is to not only share my art, but myself well.  Whether it is perceived as entertainment or merely appreciated on the same level as moose excretion is for you, the audience, to decide.
